Founded in 1923 in the Netherlands, Heijmans (http://www.heijmans.be) has grown into one of three most profitable companies in the construction market. In 2003 the consolidated sales of her establishments in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain totalled € 2.604 million. Approximately 10.018 people work for Heijmans.
Several important take-overs have made it possible for the Heijmans concern in Belgium to offer high-quality commodities in the building industry, in the real estate development and in related industries. Heijmans also holds a leading position in the realisation and maintenance of, amongst others, sewer systems, road building (highways, freeways, ...), parking, bicycle tracks, pavements and high-speed raillink. A strong regional network of different companies makes it possible for Heijmans to offer, simultaneously, every imaginable construction activity regardless of the position of the site in Belgium.
Heijmans shall further enforce her position as a prominent road construction firm in Belgium by offering her clients integral solutions (design, execution, installation and maintenance) and by expanding her position on the market of raw materials and asphalt. Heijmans' organisation has carefully been adjusted to the high quality demands of the market: performance within the deadline and within the financial agreements. Heijmans Infra realises in Belgium a turnover of some € 80 million a year thanks to its 389 collaborators. In Belgium Heijmans Infra owns asphalt-generating stations in Puurs and in Bilzen, and has also concrete stations. This all together with competent educated personal and a modern machinery allow to lay out all sorts of metalling concerning asphalt, concrete, concrete paving-stones, ...
Heijmans Infra has already done a lot of development concerning quiet asphalt road surface, in which the biggest improvement in the domain of environment is the decrease of traffic noise. Moreover, this type of asphalt is completely recyclable and easy in the upkeep and cleaning. Heijmans Infra disposes of a fully equipped laboratory, capable engineers and laboratory workers who are always in search of new techniques and improvement of the already existing techniques. The asphalt- and concrete compositions are always adaptable to the specific needs of the customers. In the Netherlands Heijmans Infra already got the "National Price of Noise and Vibration Innovation".
This price was awarded by a foundation in which the Government and several institutions in the domain of fighting noise are represented. De jury thought that the sending in of Heijmans was creative, effective and of social sense. A wide application of "quiet" road surface is a very effective way to fight the noise pollution of the road traffic. Quiet road surfaces are more effective and almost always less expensive than taking measures to fight the noise like placing screens and the isolation of houses.
