HEAD acoustics GmbH (http://www.head-acoustics.de) was founded in 1986 in order to establish head related measurement techniques in the market. Today the company has more than 100 employees worldwide with the headquarter being located in Herzogenrath. The three subsidiary companies of HEAD acoustics GmbH are HEAD acoustics Inc. (USA), HEAD acoustics S.A.R.L (F) and HEAD acoustics KK (Japan). Products of HEAD acoustics are recording systems (HMS, BHM, BEQ), analysis systems NVH applications (ArtemiS, SQlab) and telecommunication (ACQUA), play back systems (HPS, SoundCar), all in one systems (NoiseBook) and simulation tools (H3S, Pass-by, Prons, etc.).

Mayor fields of applications are binaural recording and playback, multi channel recording and analysis, system analysis, troubleshooting, sound design, modelling and simulation as well as virtual reality applications and speech quality assessment. HEAD acoustics also comprises a well equipped NVH Consulting team (4 wheel chassis dynamometer, vehicle test chamber, engine test rig, anechoic chamber, etc.) working on national and international projects.

HEAD acoustics has experience in EU projects as co-ordinator and participant in the following projects:

- SVEN (2000-2003)
Simulation of exterior noise of vehicles by means of acoustical near field investigations on relevant noise source components
- NABUCCO (2000-2002)
Development of improved and cost optimised methods for noise abatement of household appliance using transfer path analysis.
- DOSE (1998-2001)
Development of a personal noise exposure measuring device.
- AUDIS (1996-1999)
Development of an interface allowing for an individual adapted, dynamic, spatial presentation of several partially moving sound sources.
- OBELICS (1996-1999) Development of methods and instruments for objective vehicle sound description.
